Rules & Regulations

Eligibility

Golden South Classic participants must be high school age athletes who meet his or her state high school eligibility standards. With the exception of athletes participating in the Open Prep Division, all other athletes must also meet the Golden South qualifying standards. See below for QUALIFYING STANDARDS.

State Champions may receive a bye to the above standards.

Athletes do not have to meet the Classic qualifying standards to compete in the Open Prep Division.

Rules and Regulations

Confirmation Regulations

All Classic entrants MUST CONFIRM their participation in the following manner: All competitors must report to the clerking tent one hour prior to their event.

Number assignments/confirmations will be available for pick up from 11:30 am Saturday at the athlete check-in table. All field event competitors will report to their event area.

Please abide by the confirmation regulations and allow everyone to have an outstanding meet. There will be an additional fee of $25 if registering after the deadline, or on race day.

Number Assignments

Only those officially entered will be credentialed and allowed through the gates. There will be no guest passes issued for family members, spouses or friends who accompany athletes or coaches. Everyone, regardless of age, must have a ticket.

Coaches Passes

Each coach will receive one pass per four athletes entered.

Example:
1 - 4 athletes = One Pass
5 - 8 athletes = Two Passes
9 + athletes = Three Passes

Ticket Information

Tickets for the general public are available at the gate for $7 per person. Price includes souvenir event program and parking. Priority parking will be $5 at the gate, while available. Children under 5 are free. CASH ONLY

Awards and Prizes

Medals are awarded through sixth place in all events.

Uniforms

School uniforms are not permitted.

Shoes

The only acceptable style spikes are:
- 1/8” pyramid
- 1/4" pyramid
- 3/16” (6mm) Omni Lite

The spike styles listed above are the ONLY spikes permitted on the track and all runways. There will be a supply of spikes available for sale at the event (15 cents each). Track and runways are
Mondo Super X. Shot and discus circles are on concrete.

Dressing Quarters

No dressing quarters will be available. It is strongly suggested that all athletes dress PRIOR to arriving at the meet. Golden South is not responsible for valuables. There are no facilities for checking such items.

Sanctioning

USATF Sanctioned EventGolden South is a USATF sanctioned meet.

Waiver

Participation Waiver – REQUIRED

Signed waivers must be submitted for ALL participants. A parent or legal guardian must sign for athletes under 18.

Rain Policy

Due to unpredictable weather circumstances, we do not suggest scheduling same-day travel to or from the event.

  • No refunds will be offered due to inclement weather conditions.
  • In the case of severe weather, events will initially be delayed with hope to resume later in the day.
  • Only at the discretion of the Golden South Executive Committee and Meet Officials will the decision be made to postpone the event until the following day. Delays and postponements are done only in the interest of safety.
  • If a postponement were decided upon, weather permitting, the event would continue on the following day, Sunday, June 8th at 1 pm.
